The ISX15 is one of the toughest engines on the road, but nothing runs forever. If you're pushing past 800K–1M miles and starting to see problems, don't guess — read the signs.
What to watch for: heavy blowby out of the crankcase breather, coolant loss without an obvious leak, low oil pressure at idle, blue or white smoke that won't clear, and metal shavings in your oil filter. If you're seeing two or more together, it's time to talk in-frame or full overhaul.
Catch it early and you're looking at a rebuild. Ignore it and you're looking at a scrap block. We do the diagnosis and give you a straight answer — no scare tactics.
A clogged DPF (diesel particulate filter) is one of the top three reasons trucks get parked. But you don't always need a new one — and shops that only quote replacement are costing you thousands.
The rule: if ash loading is under 42 grams and the substrate isn't cracked, a proper bake-and-clean gets you back to like-new performance for a fraction of the price. If the substrate's damaged or you're at end-of-life mileage, then replacement is the right call.
We inspect first, quote second. Bring the truck in and we'll tell you exactly what it needs — no upsell.
A cracked or worn liner seat doesn't always mean the block is toast. In-house machine work — what we call "cortes de block" — can save an engine that other shops would tell you to replace.
When it works: counterbore repair on Cummins ISX and PACCAR MX blocks, deck resurfacing after a head gasket failure, and liner protrusion corrections. The block gets machined back to spec, new liners drop in, and you're back on the road for a fraction of a replacement engine.
Not every shop can do this. We can. If a machine shop just quoted you a new block, get a second opinion before committing.
